Worms World Party Review
July 23, 2005 by Kyle

by Kyle - July 23, 2005

The previously known Worms has returned for their latest game yet, Worms World Party. Worms World Party combines the previous gameplay and entertainment with newer technology and excitement.

So much more to choose from

Many modes have been included into Worms World Party. Its game modes include Single Game Deck, Multiplayer, and N-Gage Arena, each carrying separate selections inside.

For a quick game setup, theres the mode Quick Game. Once you select that, it brings you straight to the arena, randomly selecting your team and place. Conveniently, you can pause the game and switch to sudden death if youre running out of time to finish a game. If you find Quick Games begin to repeat as you want more variety, the Custom Game selection is the mode for you. While the mission mode, each player takes turns consisting of thirty seconds each. Your goal is to make your way toward your enemy and defeat them while your opponent gets an alternating turn of thirty seconds to fire grenades toward you. Multiplayer and N-Gage Arena both require you to have your N-Gage connected with N-Gages online services.

Worms World Party was easy to learn and obtain skill from thanks to its Training selection. While in Training, you are introduced into nineteen different lessons to learn different weapon techniques and movement. Once completing Training, your strategy and approach toward the game improve tremendously.

Movement and controls were very basic in Worms World Party. Movement and aiming was done with the directional pad, firing was accomplished with the 5 button, and weapon and item selection was done with the 7 button.

Overall the graphics in Worms World Party were better than I would have expected on the N-Gage. I could see the picture fine with the detail it held. There are no animated scenes to watch except for watching your opponent aim and fire their weapons. Worms World Party could have included a little more detail in the scenery but each level was brightly colored. For an animated imaginary game, Worms World Party nailed the right approach.

Cute and hilarious

For those of you unfamiliar with the Worms, they are very entertaining as they converse with each other. Certain phrases like Look out soldier and You missed from the opposing team gave me a good laugh. Along with the lines, the tone and pitch of voice they use add to the humorous effect.

On the other hand, the theme music became a little irritating after a while. Theres no variation as it just repeats. The only thing altering it is the Worms communicating and the sound of the explosions from the weapons either team fires.

Fun with convenience

While playing Worms World Party, I couldnt get enough of it. Worms World Party requires a bit of skill to learn and patience to obtain it. While firing weapons, finding the perfect angle with the right force was constantly changing as the wind changed direction. With Worms World Party being on the N-Gage it was more versatile with your playing availability. If you have to leave, you can just pause it and take it with you for wherever youre headed.

Worms World Party has a good variety in options. Whether you want to play a basic game or take the challenge of sudden death, its all there. For a different approach, Worms World Party includes a mission mode where you make your way across the level to defeat your opponent who is taking shots at you.

Worms World Party includes a great and thorough options menu. Within the menu mode, you can choose to customize your teams, statistics, schemes, and all the other miscellaneous game settings.

To wrap things up

Worms World Party is a great game to just pick up whenever youre bored. I could just come home in the afternoons, grab the N-Gage and play either a mission or regular game. Either way, its addictive and simple gameplay is something most gamers will find entertaining, and it comes highly recommended to N-Gage owners.
