Pyroblazer Preview
Pyroblazer is a fast-paced thrill ride that many fans of space racing may be looking for. Candella Software, who had a hand in the development of Stubbs the Zombie and more, and Eipix are leading the development of this exciting title and recently gave GamePlasma an opportunity to sit down with an Alpha build of the game and we came away from the experience thoroughly impressed. Adrenaline Junkies Ahoy! Set in a future world called New Apeiron, Pyroblazer puts players in the seat of an anti-gravity vehicle called a Blazer. As your Blazer begins to win races, you will unlock additional vehicles that offer even better handling, shooting, and weapons. In order to win these races, you must first collect a myriad of weapons and coins scattered throughout the fast-paced track that will help you to achieve that goal.
The first thing players will notice about Pyroblazer is that it will offer adrenaline junkies and regular gamers alike a fast-paced shooting and racing hybrid. The levels alone offer multiple routes that will have you turning your head as you boost your turbo into overdrive. Throw in some weapons and you have what could be an extremely enjoyable experience. The first thing gamers will notice upon the game’s release is that the levels are not only complex, but deceptively fast. There are moments in the game that cause you to literally move your head as you cut a turn and attempt to overtake the spaceship in front of you. Once you activate your turbo boosters, you can expect a lot more head tilting action while making split-second decisions regarding which path you are going to send your Blazer down. Super Light Show Even for being such an early build of the game, the game engine used to run Pyroblazer showed beautiful lighting effects and detail. Everything in the game, so far, has been beautifully drawn and offers tracks that are just as gorgeous as everything else. The overall look of the game really helps to pull you in as your making those fast-paced turns. Kick It Up a Notch Many times, especially with racing games, you will find yourself wondering why a particular song was put into a game. With Pyroblazer, the developers have managed to put together a fast, energetic soundtrack that helps push the game along and give the player a thrill. We’re confident that there will be more aural goodness as the game’s development cycle continues.
Pyroblazer is shaping up to be the futuristic action/racing game that many Wipeout fans may be looking for. At no point does this game offer slow speed races or a lack of action. Hopefully, Candella is able to continue this trend with the additional levels they plan to release. Needless to say, this game is already shaping up to many an adrenaline junkie’s wet dream with fantastic visuals, great sound and fast-paced action. Written by: Ryan Lodata, Executive Editor
