In the lovely city of San Francisco, Metroid: Other M has been confirmed for a June 27th release date. The game is developed by the team over at Team Ninja.
The game looks at the classic franchise from a new perspective: While much of the game is reminiscent of 2-D side-scrollers, players can switch the perspective into 3-D at any time as they explore the twisting passages of a derelict space station and delve deep into a cinematic, never-before-told story of bounty hunter Samus Aran’s past. This new approach uses a new control scheme in which players use the Wii Remote™ controller held sideways to battle enemies and navigate the expansive, gorgeous environments in classic Metroid fashion, then aim at the screen with the Wii Remote pointer to blast foes in first-person and hunt the world for clues and hidden passages.

Nintendo Confirms Netflix Support for Wii

Nintendo today via a press release has confirmed that they have signed a deal with the movie renting service Netfilx. With the Nintendo Wii being the top selling console of the decade so far, it was only natural that Netflix decided to sign a deal with Nintendo. The service will require a disc to run much like the Playstation 3.
“Our research shows that 86 percent of all U.S. Wii consoles are located in the living room,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “The Wii console is the social hub around which friends and family members gather to play games and have fun. Soon both new and longtime Wii owners will enjoy the benefits of Netflix – and a variety of informational and entertainment options – by being Netflix members and connecting their consoles to the Internet.”
“Our goal is to offer Netflix members as many ways as possible to watch movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix right to their TVs and to give non-members more and compelling reasons to consider the service,” said Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings. “Joining forces with Nintendo, which has been so immensely popular with consumers since its introduction, is a very meaningful step in that direction.”
The service is scheduled to go live this Spring with no exact date confirmed yet. All you need is a Nintendo Wii console, broadband internet connection and a Netflix account which starts as low as $8.99 a month.

The arcade basketball frenzy that was NBA Jam is officially coming exclusively to the Nintendo Wii confirmed by Electronic Arts today.
“NBA JAM is one of the most recognizable franchises in videogame history,” said Peter Moore, President, EA SPORTS. “Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We’re very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise.”
The game will stick true to its original arcade release and will have you spinning and making ankle-breaking moves in NBA Jam.
Featuring gameplay that is true to the original, NBA JAM will have players spinning with ankle breaking moves to the basket and on the way to high-flying, backboard-smashing dunks. In addition to the classic experience, EA SPORTS NBA JAM will also introduce new game modes, characters and gameplay depth.
NBA JAM brought an all-new visual style to the sports videogame genre when it debuted in 1993. Now, the new EA SPORTS NBA JAM re-defines the visuals for a sports game yet again by bringing true-to-life body types, updated physics and visible player emotion to the over- the - top experience.
The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB or PEGI. Expect more info including screenshots to follow. |
