Without a doubt,
June was a huge month for those of us here at GamePlasma. Not only did
we witness GP?s launch on the 16th, but ForumPlasma, our active forum
community, was also brought to life.

Gears of War's New "Hidden Fronts" Map Pack: Hands On!

The only thing worse than being hunted
down by a pack of angry Locust is being hunted down and running out of
ammo. I was just about to ask for another clip for my lancer when Don
took a round to the skull. He obviously had other things on his mind at
the time so I ran for cover. Diving behind a decrepit jalopy, I was
able to give them the slip. It would only be a matter of time before
they sniff me out.

Eat, Sleep, EverQuest: Episode 1

In 1998, something
to finally rival any and all Ultima Online players was released in the
form of a game called EverQuest. No one knew it would become as big as
it is today; it just happened. How does something like this get so big
though? It all starts by creating a character.

Just like Earth,
Norrath is full of unexpected events. As soon as Veeken entered the
world, I was thrown into what EQ gamers call a ?GM event?. The orcs of
Clan Crushbone decide to launch another attack to try to burn down
Kelethin. Me on the other hand, I just started my character ? I?m level
one. Instead of trying to be brave like a lot of other newbies did, I
took off running. Crossing bridge after bridge in Kelethin just wasn?t
enough to escape these mighty orcs. Being noble of nothing in my life,
I decided to jump? I then died. Now that EverQuest has taken on the new
lower level rules, the game is just a lot easier.

Just nine days til E3!
I’m sure some readers want to know what goes into writing these "in
reviews". A majority of the time I am doing it on the last day of the
month at night. I do this because it allows me to encompass pretty much
the whole month down to the final hours. Of course if I’m not going to
be around I will do it early but generally I have the time to do on the
last day. While writing I usually go over a list of what I thought was
good about the month and sometimes I’ll free write some bits for
filler. Another interesting thing you guys should know is that I am
always listening to some sort of music, generally something upbeat and
generally it’s Queen. Nothing more fun than writing this up while
listening to Don’t Stop Me Now.

Nintendo Officially Renames the Revolution

Angry fanboys to storm Nintendo headquarters
Looking back over the years, Nintendo consoles have always been named
partly through functionality. Starting with the NES, it was an
entertainment system from Nintendo, and it doesn't get any more
straight-forward than that. The N64 was 64-bit, the DS has, well...dual
screens, and the GameCube is a cube that plays games. It may not have
occurred to many gamers that Nintendo's next console, the Revolution,
has been referred to as that by codename only (in the spirit of the
Ultra-64, the Dolphin, and Microsoft's Longhorn). So, what's the
official title of the new system that's going to change the way we play
games?

March in Review

As March Madness ends, so begins the journey towards E3. March has come and gone, and with it the horrible weather that I’m used to. Last week we had nearly six inches of snow. Just a few days ago we had a downpour of rain. I saw this with no surprise because this is Illinois; you’re bound to see some weird weather.

The Future of Console and Computer Games Part 1
Playstation Portable |

The computer gaming market in recent years has been portrayed as a "dying" industry. It is often argued that low sales in the computer market are being cannibalized by higher console sales. Recently if you look at a top 10 best selling software list for the week you’d almost never see more than one or two computer games but a slew of console based video games. This has lead to the assumption that the age of playing games on your computer is over.
