GC 2008: PSP 3000 Announced
Playstation Portable | August 20, 2008 10:42 am

Just like the DS before it, the PSP will be getting its own update and an added microphone capability to give the PSP more functionality with its game library among future developer uses. A new memory stick duo size was announced bringing to 4 GB as well and will all be bundled together nicely for an MSRP price tag of $199.99.

  • The new PSP retains the size and features of the current, slimmed-down PSP (PSP-2000), while incorporating some hardware updates:
  • The LCD screen will have a wider color gamut and higher contrast ratio to deliver deeper, more vibrant colors, as well as anti-reflection technology so you can see the screen more clearly when playing outdoors. As you all know, the PSP’s screen is a key strength of the hardware, and this update adds an absolutely dazzling LCD screen to the handheld.

  • A built-in microphone allows for Skype calls and multi-player gaming communication directly from the hardware - eliminating the need for attaching a separate headset.

Madden 09 Entertainment Pack On Sale Now
Playstation Portable | August 13, 2008 7:44 am

I'm not quite sure if I'd go with a brightly colored blue PSP, but for those Madden fanatics who wouldn't care either way, you can now buy the Madden Entertainment now available at your local games store. The pack contains Madden 09, a blue Playstation Portable, memory stick duo card, In Just One Play, and Beats and the pack is obvioulsy geared towards football fans. Unfortunately the blue more or less represents the New York Giants colors, so fans of other teams might have to suffer. The pack is available for a scary $199.99.

Wii63: Do you really need all three?
Playstation Portable | December 31, 1969 7:00 pm
Good things come in three’s right? Movies, siblings, the lucky number three….err…um…OK not all good things come in three’s so let me try a different approach. How cool was it growing up, being the one kid on the block with a Sega Genesis AND SNES. That wasn’t you? Well, just think about how envious you grew of the kid that did own both. Back in the 16-Bit hay day, $400 would net you both systems, controllers for both, and get you a few of the top games for each system. In today’s day and age, you’re lucky if that gets you an X Box 360, and don’t even think about getting a PS3 for $400.  Nowadays, if you want to be the lucky kid on the block with the latest gaming trifecta, expect to pay a minimum of $1800 (this figure gets an X Box 360 elite, ps3, wii, at least 2 games for each console, and two controllers.) Do you know what I could do in the 90’s with $1800 dollars? That would have brought you almost every major video game console circa 1994, making you a neighborhood Gaming God. So today I ask the question; is it worth it worth having all three next gen consoles? Unless you’re a game collector (which I am,) having all the latest systems can be very costly, and an unwise investment, given each consoles relative infancy. This topic came to me within the past few weeks, when a PS3 came into my possession briefly (borrowed one to try it out.) I own a 360, and a Wii currently (in addition to owning 17 other systems again I am an avid collector.) Since I was younger, I was always interested in owning all the latest systems. I was the only kid in the area with an Atari Jaguar, and Sega CD (which sadly as a teen I traded the jaguar, very dumb on my part.) Despite me having a very good job, blowing $600 for a PS3 (when I already own the other two next gen heavy weights,) may not be worth it. So this article is for the average Joe who has to spend money wisely and consciously. Spoiled high school kids, and college guys blowing their refund check, need not read any further this article isn’t for you (unless you enjoy reading an unbiased point of view.) So without any delay, let’s get started.
College vs. Home: The Eternal Battle
Playstation Portable | December 31, 1969 7:00 pm
Having been to college for my freshman year and now back at home, I can clearly see the differences between the two points that I have commonly referred to as ?home?. While there are some plusses and negatives to each side, I believe there is no real winner. That is why I have called this the Eternal Battle. No matter how to look at it, both are good and bad in more ways than one. Some of those who will read this most likely have been through college and laugh. Others who are in college will understand. Then there are those who haven?t been to college. Don?t be afraid of going away to college, it?s a real trip. When I was writing this, I did this on the situation that you live at school and not stay at home.
SkillGround.com Impressions
Playstation Portable | December 31, 1969 7:00 pm
We’ve all heard it before, "play video games and make money." However Groove Games has created something that can only be described as the right formula. SkillGround.com offers gamers the choice of many different games where you can compete against other players for real world money. So far there are four different games to play online; however, they are all made very well.
