Arkham Asylum: Poison Ivy Revealed
Playstation 3 | May 22, 2009 5:51 am

A new character reveal for Batman: Arkham Asylum debuts Poison Ivy. The villain list just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Who knows what the final listings should be. Personally I find this the best way to market Batman much like what The Dark Knight movie did, slowly give you bits and pieces before finally revealing the big show. Here it is for you to enjoy courtesy of IGN.

Batman Arkham Asylum will be releasing for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC later this year.

Killzone 2 DLC "Flash and Thunder" Priced and Dated: June 11th
Playstation 3 | May 20, 2009 12:02 pm

Killzone 2 will see itself getting some downloadable content for those still playing the game since its February release. The DLC pack entitled "Flash and Thunder" will be going retro by going back into the original Killzone and bringing back some old favorites. Gotta love nostalgia. The two levels are Beach Head and Southern Hills maps. The maps have been re-envisioned on the Killzone 2 engine and ready for multiplayer action. Both levels apparently will over a unique twist, so be on the look out.

In the Beach Head map, the ISA must defend their stronghold after the Helghast land on the sandy Vektan beaches. As torrential rain and gale-force winds batter the landscape, the relatively small size of the level creates a frantic hand-to-hand battleground, with the water filled craters supplying only limited cover. Picking your way across the harsh terrain, you will find many opportunities to sneak up on the enemy and take them down at close range. And if you’re able to get to them in one piece, there are also lots of higher ground sniper spots to explore…

In the Southern Hills map, the battle takes place around a central Helghast base on top of a hill. The compound is surrounded by smaller structures, creating a level that facilitates close-quarter fights within the built-up areas, as well as long-range shoot-outs in-between them. Ideal for 24 to 32 player games, the base camps in this version have been beefed up considerably, so expect to find more hiding places than in the original Killzone counterpart.

The two maps are priced at $5.99 and will be made available June 11th.

inFamous Sees Trophies and Stunts
Playstation 3 | April 29, 2009 10:21 am

The guys at Sucker Punch have been reeling for inFamous lately, and Sony has just let out some details on how trophies and stunts will work over at the Playstation Blog. According to Sony...

So, for trophies, we have a number of different categories which are:

  • Game, story and mini-mission completion
  • Collect all dead drops and shards
  • Traversal
  • Stunts
  • Power-Based
  • Karmic decisions

The “Get Off My Cloud” trophy is probably one of the easiest trophies to unlock. The idea here is to use one of Cole’s powers to knock an enemy off a high location, such as a rooftop, and deal him damage that kills him when he hits the ground. Perform 100 of these and you unlock the trophy. Another fun trophy is the “Red Baron.” Blast enemies into the air and kill or take them down while they’re in-air. Do 100 of these and you’ve unlocked this trophy.

Apparently, various stunts in the game will offer trophy opportunities as well as affect what you do throughout the storyline. There seems to be a list of more then 40 combo moves that you can use in the game, which is amazing when you think about it, considering the type of game it is.

With the way Uncharted turned out, don't expect Naughty Dog to be lax about the single player.

Playstation 3 | April 13, 2009 11:43 am

The Playstation 3 exclusive sandbox game, inFamous has been dated by Sony today. The game will release not in June, but in May, a date that sees early release treatment. It seems as if the developers are ahead of schedule and have managed to bring the game in full form by now.

Cole, an everyday guy, sets out to deliver a package in the downtown area of Empire City. Present at the scene of a devastating explosion that rocks Empire City, he barely manages to survive the event. As riots erupt in the aftermath, the city collapses into chaos and becomes overrun by powerful criminals. The city is quarantined from the mainland, and television broadcasts link Cole to the scene of the crime. Cole is now a wanted man, but he’s also wielding extraordinary powers as a result of the explosion.

As an evolving mystery unfolds, Cole must learn how to grasp his newfound super powers as he searches for the real culprits behind the blast in an attempt to rescue Empire City from complete anarchy.

The game is set to release on the Playstation 3 May 26th with a demo to be release shortly beforehand on May 21st.
