Burn Zombie Burn! Sells 700,000 Units
Playstation 3 | July 30, 2009 8:11 am

The Playstation 3 exclusive zombie thriller, Burn Zombie Burn! has officially sold over 700,000 units. To what you probably already know, this is doublesix's first digitally released title on the Playstation 3. James Brooksby, the head of the studio commented on the games success.

"We're clearly delighted that 'Burn Zombie Burn' is performing well. It's our first experience of digital console publishing and we've found the entire process very exciting and rewarding. However, I do wish that all the platform owners would make their digital sales figures public. We feel this lack of transparency is hindering the development of these channels. We're happy to back this opinion up with the release of the figures for 'Burn Zombie Burn'. The game has now reached our internal sales target of 70,000 copies sold worldwide and that's without the upcoming expansion packs, bundles, comic, player guide, Home space, competitions, Asian release etc."

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Dated
Playstation 3 | July 21, 2009 3:34 pm

The third-person action-adventure PS3 exclusive, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has officially been dated today. As you can see above the box art was also released looking as spicy as the game itself. The game itself will be hitting store shelves on Rocktober 13th, that's October 13th in North America. Many of you may remember that is the same day Brutal Legend releases as well, so make sure you think long and hard before you make your choice.

Gamestop apparently will have an exclusive pre-order bonus giving gamers early access to the multiplayer demo while everyone else will have to wait until September 30th. Outside of that there are 3 different pre-order exclusives going out on different retailers. Amazon will be giving out a Treasure Map that "allows players to discover hidden treasures throughout the game". GameCrazy will be getting a currency multipler item that unlocks multiplayer currency more quickly for a limited time.

Gamestop's early multiplayer demo access will begin on September 9th, so make sure you pre-order when you can.

Killzone 2 Getting New Weapon DLC
Playstation 3 | July 17, 2009 1:13 pm

Napalm & Cordite, the new weapon pack will be coming to Killzone 2 as part of a new weapon's pack. Here are a couple of descriptions of the weapons thanks to the Playstation Blog.

Napalm: The VC1 Flamethrower
Found in the Suljeva Cliffside map, the VC1 Flamethrower projects an ignited stream of flammable liquid at high pressure. Consisting of low-octane gasoline and an unidentified component indigenous to Helghan, this form of Napalm is extremely effective for clearing out enemy trenches and bunkers.

Cordite: The Boltgun 4400
Also known as “The Handyman”, the semi-automatic Boltgun 4400 can be picked up in the Arctower Landing map. It uses Cordite to propel metal bolts at an extremely high velocity, often pinning its targets to walls and other objects. In addition, each round contains a time-delayed explosive charge – so if impalement doesn’t finish the target off, the ensuing explosion will.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Gets PS3 Release Date
Playstation 3 | July 16, 2009 1:06 pm

It's unsure as to why, but somehow the Playstation Network version of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 has mysteriously been pushed to releasing 2 weeks after the Xbox Live Arcade version. Perhaps because of Microsoft's "Summer of the Arcade". The game will see release on August 13th priced at $15 bucks.

It is certainly confusing as to why the PSN version will be releasing 2 weeks later, and what could have caused this "delay". According to Kotaku at least, when the release date dropped for the Xbox Live Arcade version, the Capcom European website showed an image that revealed the game was releasing along side each other. However, that has obviously been mis-leading and today Capcom confirmed its intentions for the games release.

One would have thought that since Capcom released a small demo on the Playstation Network first its full version would have come before the Xbox Live Arcade version and not the other way around. How mis-leading information can be these days.

New Metal Gear Online Update Available Now
Playstation 3 | June 17, 2009 10:56 am

Kicking off the anniversary week of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Konami has officially released a new Metal Gear Online downloadable map, character and new mode. The new update allows for players to play as Old Snake.

Best suited for medium-to long-range combat, the new map - Icebound Inferno - will be recognized by fans of the franchise as the famed "Shadow Moses" map from the first METAL GEAR SOLID game. The map features an Arctic Island that consists of a large snowfield with buildings of varying heights.

In addition, the download allows players to use Old Snake as a unique character and the Octo-cam suit as a weapon. In a twist, Old Snake will not become completely invisible when using the suit, but will automatically blend with the environment. The latest download will also include an Auto Matching Reward mode in which the winner of the match wins more reward points than normal. When playing an individual match in this mode, only the winner receives the reward points while in a team match, the team member ranked first will win the reward points.
