Cities XL Gets 2 New Screens and Website Update
Windows PC | March 6, 2009 4:00 pm

Monte Cristo has released new screenshots for Cities XL today. Also, they so kindly let us know that they have made an overhaul of their official development blog for the game. A new update on the game bears info for this city builder.

3.1 Citizens
Citizens will calculate their satisfaction levels based on four criteria: work, prices, services, and living environment. Work will incorporate salary scale (there are 4), unemployment rates, and commuting times. Prices will incorporate the cost of resources and, most importantly, taxes. (We have already discussed services and living environment in a previous blog). Citizens who are unhappy may decide to move house or, worse, to leave the city altogether. The average satisfaction level of the citizens will determine your city’s reputation and therefore its ability to attract new citizens and to grow.

There will be four levels of qualification available to citizens: unqualified worker, qualified worker, white collar, and executive. These in turn will relate to four affluence levels. Improving the affluence of your city will require you to first improve the overall level of qualification, to provide appropriate employment, and to increase general satisfaction. That’s your challenge!

Check out the other screenshot and info on the other areas of the city builder below...check out the dev blog here.

Braid Hitting PC At The End of The Month
Windows PC | March 2, 2009 8:21 am

Avilable at the end of the month on GamersGate, Braid, awarded the Casual Game of the Year by the Interactive Achievement Awards. Braid will be made available for the lovely price of $/€ 14.99.

Braid is a puzzle-platformer, drawn in a painterly style, where the player manipulates the flow of time in strange and unusual ways. From a house in the city, journey to a series of worlds and solve puzzles to rescue an abducted princess. In each world, you have a different power to affect the way time behaves, and it is time's strangeness that creates the puzzles. The time behaviors include: the ability to rewind, objects that are immune to being rewound, time that is tied to space, parallel realities, time dilation, and perhaps more. Braid treats your time and attention as precious; there is no filler in this game. Every puzzle shows you something new and interesting about the game world.

You'll be able to download straight from the official GamersGate site here...GamersGate

Valve Releases Scout Update for Team Fortress 2
Windows PC | February 25, 2009 1:02 pm

Late last night, Valve released the Scout Update for the PC version of Team Fortress 2. Just like the Heavy, Pyro, and Medic Updates before it, the Scout Update brings a variety of changes to the class it's named after. The Scout has two shiny new weapons and one new item to play with. As usual, the new toys are unlocked via achievements, of which 35 new ones have been added (although players must only unlock 20 achievements to fully unlock the Scout's new arsenal). Valve also added three new community maps as well as an array of miscellaneous tweaks and fixes.

Valve put up an official page dedicated to the Scout Update that gives the full lowdown on the new maps, achievements, and Scout-exclusive weapons. Hit the jump for the full list of changes.

New Dungeon Party Gameplay Video
Windows PC | February 25, 2009 11:46 am

Cyanide Studios and Focus Home Interactive have released a new video that details some of the gameplay that can be found in their upcoming MMO, Dungeon Party. Dungeon Party is a free-to-play MMO that puts players in what appears to be a very demented cartoon world where they must fight against NPCs and the opposing team for control of the Chest. The video not only shows those features off, but also includes some videos of the possible character customizations that will be available, which also appear to be delightfully demented. For some reason I have always pictured my avatar beating others with a ham leg.
