PC Version of Batman: Arkham Asylum to Support NVIDIA PhysX Technology
Windows PC | August 6, 2009 7:10 am

EIDOS and Warner Bros. Interactive announced today that the PC version of Batman: Arkham Asylum will be supporting NVIDIA PhysX Technolog, which creates fully realistic worlds of interactive objects and materials. This will allow for players to truely experience the work put into Arkham Asylum and the world around it. In order to take advantage of the new physics engine, players must have a compatible NVIDIA GPU and a copy fo the game from Games for Windows Live.

“Supporting NVIDIA PhysX technology has allowed us to add that little bit extra to the PC version of the game,” said Sefton Hill, Game Director at Rocksteady Studios. “As Batman interacts with the world, the aging asylum creates a more immersive, believable world which really draws the player in.”

With PhysX technology enabled, players can explore darkened corridors packed with volumetric fog which reacts to Batman’s movement and cobwebs which tear with his passing. Combat becomes a maelstrom of motion as office papers are thrown into the air alongside soda cans and litter as Batman lands each punch upon The Joker’s henchmen. Throughout the game, the decaying gothic architecture is realized to an incredible detail with wall tiles chipping and breaking, stone pillars crumbling upon impact, and particles from breaking glass and debris shattering and falling down around Batman’s feet.

The game will be available on PC September 15th in North America and September 18th in Europe. The game is also releasing on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 August 25th in North America and August 28th in Europe. A demo is appearing on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network tomorrow.

StarCraft II First Half of 2010?
Windows PC | August 5, 2009 4:11 pm

In a press release issued today, Blizzard has announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will not be ready for release by the end of 2009. According to Blizzard, the launch of the new Battle.net will push back the launch of Starcraft II since it is "an integral part of the StarCraft II experience." This comes as a disappointment to some, but hopefully the added time will ensure a better product.

Our mission is to develop games that deliver an epic entertainment experience. As part of that commitment, we will always take as much time as needed to ensure that our games and services meet the expectations of our players and the standard for quality that we set for ourselves as developers. As we work to make Battle.net the premier online gaming destination, we’ll also continue to polish and refine StarCraft II, and we look forward to delivering a real-time strategy gaming experience worthy of the series’ legacy in the first half of 2010.

You Can't Have Basketball Without Soccer: Fifa 10
Windows PC | July 27, 2009 7:43 am

Some new Fifa 10 screenshots have popped up for the PC version of the game. The game is set to take hold of the retail market on October 2nd. Here's a bit of background as to what to expect from this years soccer title.

On the pitch, critical gameplay fundamentals have been enhanced to ensure that FIFA 10 mirrors real-world football, providing more sophisticated ball control, and physical interaction between players. In addition, players now move, behave and position themselves more realistically. On attack, players analyze space more effectively, curve their runs in an attempt to stay onside, create passing lanes naturally, and drive for more variety in attacking options. On defense, new concepts like position priority enable defenders to multitask so dangerous spaces left open by teammates out of position are covered. Plus, slide tackle targeting, press marking, and better-urgency clearance logic provide new options that make defending a tactical skill in FIFA 10. In goal, a myriad of improvements and refinements to goalkeeper intelligence result in a more responsive and powerful rushing system and ultra-realistic saves.

Three new innovations revealed today have been developed to change the player control experience in FIFA 10. The first-ever true 360° dribbling system gives players finer control of the ball, enabling them to find spaces between defenders that previously were not possible. Using an all-new animation technology, skilled dribblers now have the ability to face the defender and use highly responsive lateral dribbling to skip past him. An innovative concept called Freedom in Physical Play enables players to perform wider dribble touches and new collision sharing creates a varied, less predictable, and extended fight for possession between the dribbler and a defender.

Prince of Persia Available Via Impulse
Windows PC | June 22, 2009 9:03 pm

To those of you that managed to play the newest Prince of Persia on the 360 not too long ago, PC gamers can finally get their hands on the game via digital distribution.

The game isn't completely out of reach if you at least have a decent rig in your presence. While those with something less then desirable will probably have to upgrade a bit. You'll need to sport 2 gigs of RAM and a 9 Gigs of Hard Drive space. The game of course is only supported on Windows XP/Vista so MAC users are a bit out of luck unfortunately.

How much is the game? How about a lovely price of $29.99. While the game does have its flaws, it does have a rather entertaining story for the most part if you're into the series at all.

A new hero emerges to face an ancient evil that threatens to once more corrupt the world.  Master complex acrobatics and dazzling fighting moves to dance across visually stunning levels and take on some of the most diabolical enemies ever seen in a Prince of Persia title.

You won’t fight alone however.  Joining your fight against Ahriman and the Corruption is Elika.  Gifted with magical powers, she aids and empowers the Prince, making otherwise impossible situations possible.
