Square Enix Confirms Chrono Trigger DS

After launching its teaser website, Square-Enix has officially confirmed that Chrono Trigger will be heading to the Nintendo DS this Holiday season.

Originally released in 1995 on Super NES(R) and shipping more than 2.5
million copies worldwide, CHRONO TRIGGER has been hailed as one of the
greatest games of all time by critics and fans alike. With a unique and
multifaceted storyline, the game revolutionized the world of RPGs with
never-before-seen features, including an unprecedented soundtrack and multiple
endings determined by side quests and the player's actions.

Metal Slug 7 Announced for Nintendo DS

Metal Slug 7 has been confirmed for the Nintendo DS by the SNK Playmore Corporation and Ignition Entertainment to the sound of thunderous applause from Metal Slug fans. Having not given an exact date, SNK stated they plan to release the game in the fall of this year. 

Even though the series originated in 1996, the revolutionary platformer has engaged audiences for the past decade--re-releasing their titles on a barrage of different handhelds and consoles. Not limiting themselves to specific companies, Metal Slug Anthology had a duel-release on the Playstation 2 and Nintendo Wii and encompasses all of the previous Metal Slug titles. SNK's formula for a fast-paced, frenzied shoot 'em up proves valiant over time giving Metal Slug 7 a very promising approach for its launch. Expect it to arrive on the Nintendo DS this fall.

 

Get Challenged with Brain Quest

Do you remember Brain Age? We'll I'd like you to meet its cousin, Brain Quest. Today Electronic Arts has announced a new IP to its intinerary, rightly called, Brain Quest for the Nintendo DS. Coming straight from their Casual Entertainment division, Brain Quest will offer players challenges with many different questions developed specfically for 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grades level.

“Brain Quest is EA Casual Entertainment’s first educational game and we are thrilled to bring this beloved brand into the videogame space,” said Robert Nashak, VP of Casual Studios, EA Casual Entertainment. “By adapting the series to the DS, we are able to reach today’s tech savvy children and provide them with an educational experience that is interactive, engaging, and fun.”

Gamecock has sent out an interesting fact sheet detailing the many different insects you'll encounter. Check out the details after the jump.

Insecticide is a fast-paced, hard-boiled detective game set in a festering future city where bugs have evolved to become Earth’s dominant race. A murder at the powerful Nectarola soft drink company leads police from the Insecticide Squad on a bug hunt through the city’s seedy underbelly and into a mystery of epic proportions. Players join detective Chrys Liszt and her partner Roachy Caruthers on the case as they become entangled in a web of crime. It’s an action adventure in the truest sense, immersing players in cinematic combat levels as well as story-based detective work. Using Chrys’ unique insect abilities, a range of bug weaponry and good old fashioned street smarts, players must solve the case and uncover a shocking secret.

Nintendo has released a commercial in Europe showing off the new Nintendo DS colors. Now available in Red, Green and Turquoise, the DS mania doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Only available through Agetec's official website, LOL is now on sale to the general public. This unquie multiplayer only title gives gamers the chance to challenge each other in many different ways. If the game is boring, you are boring.


“This game is wonderfully unique because it leaves everything up to the players,” says Agetec producer Hiro Fukuoka. “Players create the challenges, make up the answers, and vote for the one they find best. Especially with a group of friends, it’s the most hilarious game there is.”

The game is on sale for the low price of $19.99 USD

THQ Announces new Investment

Inspired by the PC version of the series, and being developed from the ground up, THQ announced today that they will be bringing Age of Empires to the Nintendo DS platform. Age of Empire: Mythologies will allow players to strategize and command massive armies using the power of the stylus and touch screen.

"Age of Empires: Mythologies will combine one of the most successful Windows PC franchises of all time with the innovative style and controls of Nintendo DS, bringing a totally unique experience to handheld gamers," said Kevin Kraff, vice president of global brand management, THQ. "With three playable civilizations, a fast-paced combat system and extensive multi-player options, Age of Empires: Mythologies will be one of the must-have tactical strategy games this year."

Naruto Path of the Ninja 2 Announced

TOMY and D3Publisher have announced today that Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2 will be released on the Nintendo DS. Path of the Ninja 2 will feature "an all-new original storyline, a huge roster of playable characters, an improved combat system and for the first time, exciting Wi-Fi battles." Path of the Ninja 2 is also going to feature a new Squad Leader and Ninja Tag system that will allow players more options for squad-building. The included Wi-Fi Connectivity will also allow gamers to each other on.

Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise Announced

THQ has announced that Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise will be released on the Nintendo DS. The game is based on the Xbox 360 version of Viva Pinata and will feature "an array of content exclusive to Nintedo DS and intuitive control scheme designed to take full advantage of the DS touch screen and stylus, making it a breeze to navigate through the garden."
