Gears of War, one of the biggest franchises in the industry has been greenlight for its film production for a while now, but it wasn't known when it will be getting an official financial backing. That has now been settled as it seems that Legendary Pictures most responsible for films like The Dark Knight and Superman Returns will be financing and co-producing the movie.

The director that is signed for the project is Len Wisemen who's work includes the Underworld series and Live Free or Die Hard, as reported by Variety.

There is unfortunately no tentative release date given for the big screen adaption.
