Rumor: Bungie's Next Game to be Squad Based?

I have a very hot rumor for all the Halo/Bungie fans out there. A source that has first-hand knowledge of Bungie's development has contacted gaming website GameSpot about Bungie's next game.

The source describes this new Halo game as "a spin-off that resembles a cross between Ghost Recon and Gears of War. It will reportedly tell a "less cartoony" and "more bloody, violent, and grim" tale of a battle between UNSC forces and the pan-racial religious empire known as the Covenant. The game's atmosphere was described as similar to that of the live-action Halo shorts directed by South African filmmaker Neil Blomkamp, who was to helm the now-stalled big-screen adaptation of the game."

Also, the source mentions that this game will not include Master Chief, instead having you play as the Orbital Shock Troopers. This game will have co-op play and will include the whole squad, up to eight people. You might remember the O.S.T.'s as the guys in all black who accompany you in various missions but never lasted to long. Look for more news during Microsoft's E3 press conference when Bungie will possibly tease whatever game they are working on.
