June in Review
Posted December 31, 1969 by Scott Parrino
June has flown by us as we move into July as the summer heats up as well as the new titles.
Time flies by when you are busy! I still remember E3 as though it was
yesterday and now we are more than a month past it. The month of June
has been a good one, as we brought more cool stuff to GamePlasma, such
as new hardware reviews and GPTV.
GPTV is something that we have been planning to do for a while and our
first episode launched June 20th, talking about E3, Console Wars, and
GP2.0. Future episodes will feature more of the staff, featured
hardware, and of course quality discussion.
Reviews and previews keep pouring in this month, especially video previews and interviews from E3 that feature hands-on gameplay or first-looks into them. These give the readers a chance to see the game for themselves as well as catch glimpses of their favorite editors and writers. I personally had fun being in a few of the videos as I get to finally see what I am like in a setting like that. Without much surprise, I also had to say to myself, ?Is that what I sound like?? while watching the videos. Oh well, I am more proud of the rest of the staff who participated in the videos as I?m sure some of them are more camera friendly. To check out these awesome videos, check out our E3 section under Day 2. Of course I gave you the shortcut here so to make it as easy as possible for you guys. As for reviews, some of the newer releases such as Destroy All Humans! and Restricted Area joins our reviews page. Also new this month are a slew of hardware for gamers our there to see what is hot and what is not. We checked out Icemat Audio?s Black Siberia Multi Headset, Steel Sound 5H Gaming Headset, MonsterGecko?s PistolMouse FPS, and Saitek's X52 Flight Control System. Doing hardware reviews are completely different than reviewing games as it not just something on your computer, but something that you use for your gaming. All of these were a blast to try out and to test the limits of their durability (especially in a room like mine). If I had to go with a favorite for this month, it would have to be Saitek?s X52 Flight Control System. It looks amazing at night with all the blue lights on and plus overall it was a joy to use. Be sure to give this stuff a look and don?t be surprised if you are going to be ordering right after reading the reviews! GP 2.0 is coming along quite nicely and we assure you, we?re just as eager to launch it once it is finished. Every day we get closer and closer to launch and I can tell from how the staff is acting that they are pretty excited for it. I personally think that when it does it would be an effect of a surprise early Christmas present as not only is GP 2.0 nice and shiny but something that a lot of us have been wanting for a long time. 4th of July is coming in four days and that means two things: fireworks and outdoor grilling. I am sure we will all be celebrating the 4th in a respectable manner and I just want to say that if there is ever a day to put down that controller and go outside and enjoy a holiday, then this is one of them. Get together with your friends, light some sparklers or throw snaps, or blow up M-80?s from a safe distance if your state allows it. But if you can?t tear yourself away from your TV or computer screen, play a game that has fireworks. Close enough, right? Scott Parrino Editor-in-Chief |
