Valve announced today that Day of Defeat will be getting a new update. The update adds support for Steamworks and it is currently in Beta. The new update adds not only Steamworks, but  "will add 51 achievements for DoD, player avatar display in the scoreboard and win panel, and detailed player statistics integrated with the Steam Community features" The update will also add some of the features that were included with the previous Team Fortress 2 update, including"nemesis/revenge" freeze cam and new effects driven by the particle system introduced to the Source engine for TF2."

Valve didn't stop there. They will also be including a new map, dod_Palermo, which is a more refined version of the community made version of the same name.
