July in Review
Posted December 31, 1969 by Scott Parrino
School season looms closer as July closes and August rears its head.
Sitting down and writing these monthly reviews is always a treat as it gives me the experience of seeing what GamePlasma has accomplished during the month. A month is a long time and of course a lot of things can happen. However this month has brought us two hardware features and four game reviews total. For those who are enjoying the hardware reviews and want to know what came in, check out Saitek?s Eclipse Keyboard (I want to add that this is the coolest keyboard EVER) and R440 Force Wheel.

A pretty slow month it would seem but much more is being accomplished in other areas. The forums themselves have seen a new set of much-needed and updated rules and our public relation contacts have been growing. With this you will see more previews and more hardware reviews stream in. I myself am excited that Saitek has been providing a steady flow of hardware and in August you?ll see more and more of their work. As for the forums, why not stop in and sign up? It is free and best of all, you get to hang out with a group of people we all relate to: Gamers!

Another aspect that GamePlasma has accomplished this month was something that has been somewhat overdue; a staff update. It is with some sadness that some of the staff had to be let go but with it comes new beginnings. We have posted a ?writers wanted? news post and have received a number of applications. Don?t let this bring you down, there are spots still open and I suggest sending us an email if you or anyone you know is interested!

GP2.0 is still coming along quite nicely and I must say the wait isn?t going to be much longer. I was trying out a beta version for staff use and while it wasn?t fully operational, it is showing a lot of promise in ways that the staff around here has been waiting for a long time. Don?t think that it is just for the staff, but you readers will get the benefit of new features that make everything easier and better for you.

That being said, August will be bringing a new and exciting time. I am sure a lot of you are looking forward to going back to school with an equal number dreading it. For those who are that point will be packing up the minivans and U-hauls to their dorms in college. For freshmen it will be a new experience, but for those who have been doing it for years, just can?t wait for it finish. I will be heading back the good ol? fraternity house next month with one of my friends as a roommate. I will be leaving behind my large desk, my own bedroom, and my beloved truck. To some this may seem like a loss, but this is the time when I actually have time to play more games than in the summer and work harder. I don?t know why this is, but I don?t complain, I mean who doesn?t enjoy playing video games?

Have a safe journey for those who will be making their first trip out to college and to the rest of you, study hard then play hard! Look forward to next month?s review!
