February in Review
Posted December 31, 1969 by Scott Parrino
2006 is looking great so far for GamePlasma.
I know it has been a while since my last month in a review and I
apologize. It has been a hectic and very busy past few months not only
in my life but with GamePlasma as well. To start off, we have finally
achieved an important milestone in the site’s existence. We have our
own offices! Based in Richmond, Virginia, our new offices will be the
headquarters for the site where a majority of our writers will meet and
work on future projects. We are all very excited about this and I for
one can’t wait to see them.Coinciding with our new offices, GamePlasma will be having our first real in-person staff meeting on the 18th. This is a big deal for me, as I will be flying from my pleasant state of Illinois to Virginia to meet some of our new writers that we have picked up this year. Speaking of the new writers, if you haven’t noticed our staff page then be sure to check out the large amount of new talent we have. What should make this influx of new staff even more exciting is that some of them will be traveling to E3 to pump out some great information about the upcoming games and consoles.
Did someone say E3? Oh I did! The Electronic Entertainment Expo held in
Los Angeles during May is quickly coming to the horizon and we here at
GamePlasma are ready to take it on. Last year’s event was incredible
enough with just the amount of work we have done and at the end we were
proud of ourselves. I’m sure you readers enjoyed the previews, the
stories and the video interviews that got us closer to you.
Now the next topic I want to talk about feels like I’m beating a dead horse but this time I swear it is true. GamePlasma 2.0 is on the verge of being implemented. The behind-the-scenes work done by our talented programmer Josh Kimbrel is making things a lot easier for us. The control panel that we work with has gotten a facelift as well as fixed a few bugs here and there. If you visit the forums, you have probably noticed that something looks different. Actually, we have upgraded our forum software to a version that is safer and definitely easier to organize while giving the users more features. About a week ago, Tim Bradshaw, Owner and Founder and writer Andrew Vawter took a trip out to New York to check out Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for a hands-on preview here. To say that this game will be amazing and extensive is a bit of an understatement. I know that I’m not that much of an RPG guy but from checking out the screenshots and reading up on the preview, I’m tempted to just run out there and get in line to buy it. So what is on the horizon for GamePlasma? Well we have enlisted the talent of an artist to make comic strips for us. The strip will cover a variety of topics, from staff members to events in the entertainment industry. The beta frame I have seen looks very well drawn and I’m sure that it will draw a lot of fans to the site for daily postings of the comic. I know I will because I’m still a kid at heart and I love cartoons. Overall February has been very good to us here at the site. We will be receiving more previews to check out as well as the usual number of reviews and features in the future. Keep an eye out for GP 2.0 and our continuing coverage of console and PC games in the future. And remember; tell your friends and family about us! Scott Parrino Editor-in-Chief |
