Dude, You\'re Getting an Alienware?

| If you haven't heard the rumor that Dell may buy Alienware by now, then
you |
 |
| must have been living under a rock with no internet access.
The rumor has definitely been making its rounds around the 'net and we here
at GamePlasma decided to say what we think and contact Alienware about it. |
Dell purchasing Alienware would be an aggressive step for Dell into
the gaming market. It is already known that Dell has just recently been
putting out their XPS gaming desktops with SLI technology and powered
by Pentium4 processors with dual cores. Alienware however has been
promoting their dual-core AMDs which have been heralded as the premier
gaming processor with the best overclocking capability. This of course
is a big improvement over the years from AMD and is now regarded as a
serious challenger of Pentium processors.
Alienware however doesn't seem to stand to benefit from being bought
by Dell. They have solid grip on the gaming market with their powerful
Aurora and Area-51 brand computers. But Dell does have an extensive
reach in the desktop market and could help Alienware in getting more
exposure than usual.
When GamePlasma contacted Alienware about the rumor, we got a
courteous reply from Alienware's Public Relations Specialist, Jaclyn
Gonzalez:
"At this time, Alienware will not comment on any speculative stories
or rumors concerning Dell and Alienware's association. While we do
believe that news stories like this are ultimately a strong positive
reinforcement of the Alienware brand and the company's success, we will
not comment on speculation or potential future events. As always,
Alienware is committed to offering consumers and businesses with the
best high-performance, innovative PC products on the market and we
remain manically focused on that goal."
For those who want a slimmed-down version of the quote, it basically
means "no comment". However the second sentence seems to hint that
Alienware is enjoying the press coverage like a starry-eyed pop singer.
However the quote also reveals that the only time that a merger will go
through will be when it does happen and not when it is planned for or
contemplated. So for the meantime, we'll just have wait on the
sidelines and keep an eye out for more information and hope that
something new will come up.
