Posted February 24, 2010 by Scott Parrino

Capcom is no stranger to fans of their series of games. To thank their fans of the Lost Planet franchise, Capcom is issuing DLC to Lost Planet 2 preorders.

Players that reserve Lost Planet 2 will be able to download two new maps for the 16-player multiplayer mode. Also added in to all those that are purchasing the game is the playable skin of Resident Evil 5's Albert Wesker. Paired with this skin is Albert's powerful magnum revolver, which was part of the preorder bonus from Gamestop only, now available for all.

The new map pack includes:

Helix - The underwater NEVEC mining facility houses several layers and twisted corridors.  Swim between the layers, or dive to the bottom to change your point of attack.  Aqua Catapults can launch you to the upper levels in a hurry, and you must learn every corner and get the upper hand on your enemies.

Back to the Island - The shady atoll of Island 902 is broken into wide open spaces and compact interiors.  Choose your battlefield from the beaches to the battered carrier, or explore a new dimension in the underwater battle.  Control the bridge to dominate the map, but beware attacks from all sides.

Capcom has also announced localized split-screen gameplay, utitlizing the development team that brought the same kind of mode to Resident Evil 5.

Lost Planet 2 is scheduled to hit shelves May 18, 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
