Earning critical acclaim and shipping over 4 million units worldwide, Fallout 3 will be getting a sequel of sorts to its post apocolyptic world. The game is not a direct sequel but is inspired by the Fallout universe and takes place in the same time span. Fallout: New Vegas will be headed and developed by Obsidian Entertainment whose track record includes Neverwinter NIghts 2 and an upcoming Alpha Protocol title.

You'll still be set in its RPG ways, without much deviation from it. The game, according to Gamespot also earned to honors at the GDC, Game Developers Conference this past March. So, it's not a surprised that Besethda Softworks would continue to expand on Fallout's story and content.

The game will see release on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in 2010.
