Rumor-Ring: Nintendo DSi Launching April 4th?
Posted January 13, 2009 by Jereme Puik

According to an interesting source that reached IGN, it was let known that the Nintendo DSi would be launching in North America on April 4th and have a price point of $179.99 USD. Now, the DSi has already been released in Japan since November 1st and has already sold over 500,000 units. If this is to be believed, April 4th is not too far away.

The Nintendo DSi improves upon the DS Lite in various ways. First, it adds two cameras as well as SD card slot support for memory expansion. The new DSi Store will include DSWare games and demos available for download much like the Wii's Wii Ware service on the Wii Shop Channel. It is unknown if the two will be inter-connected or not.

It is presented in the IGN article that Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime, didn't feel it was necessary to launch the DSi in 2008 because the DS Lite was still selling like hot cakes. The two DS's would create a tangum in the market splitting gamers into casual and hardcore DS gamers.

Nintendo has yet to comment on these rumors.
