Interview with WWE: Aftershock\'s Andy Mazurek
Posted December 31, 1969 by Scott Parrino
Just recently GamePlasma had the pleasure to interview WWE Aftershock's Producer Andy Mazurek. WWE Aftershock is scheduled to be released on the N-Gage next month.

GamePlasma: We here at GamePlasma would like to thank you for answering our questions Andy. Starting off, I'm sure a lot of wrestling fans would like to know the line up for WWE Aftershock.
Andy Mazurek: Hi, It?s a pleasure to answer your questions. Ahh, the line up, Ok we have Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Booker T, Triple H, Ric Flair, Chris Jericho, Edge, John Cena, Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, Kane and Big Show.

GamePlasma: Were you able to work with the WWE to develop WWE Aftershock? If so, was it difficult to port their moves and likeness to the N-Gage?
Andy Mazurek: I didn?t get to work directly with WWE but I did work very closely with THQ Wireless and their producer Karlo Kilayko and our developer Exient. Porting the moves over was difficult. Anytime you have to animate so many moves against so many different Superstars, the likelihood of something going amiss exists. The guys at Exient were top notch and up to the task. They performed miracles.

GamePlasma: Sporting fully rendered 3D arenas and crazy camera angles; WWE: Aftershock sure doesn't scrimp on the action. What arenas were rendered and what sort of crazy camera angles happen during gameplay?
Andy Mazurek: In WWE Aftershock, the action can take place in one of four different arenas. These are the RAW, Smackdown, HEAT and Velocity venues. We have a few camera angles for when the Superstar enters the ring and then when the action heats up, the camera will swoop around to keep the action centered on the screen.

GamePlasma: With the N-Gage, WWE Aftershock players can face off in the ring online via Bluetooth. Is this connection fast and stable for minimal lag and does it interfere with any of the gaming?
Andy Mazurek: Good Question, the Bluetooth connection in WWE Aftershock is very fast and incredibly stable. Exient really did some fantastic coding and the lag is very minimal. It does not interfere with the gameplay at all.

GamePlasma: WWE Aftershock boasts having dynamic crowd reactions. Can you explain how this works in the game and does it increase the interactive feeling of the gamer and the game?
Andy Mazurek: Great question. If you have ever been to a WWE Wrestling event, you know that the crowd plays an important role in the experience. We (THQ, Exient and myself) wanted to make sure that that experience was captured for the N-Gage. As for how it works, well as the player beats down their opponent, the crowd will begin to cheer louder and louder. The crowd can also come into play by taunts. When one player is beating down another, they can trigger various taunts. These taunts will give them a boost to their power meter and the crowd will react to the taunts. It?s a great thing to see and do.

GamePlasma: Thanks once again Andy for answering our questions, but as a last question, what is your favorite wrestler in WWE Aftershock and why?
Andy Mazurek: WOW another great question. Well in WWE Aftershock, I like all of the wrestling Superstars. Each one has their own personality as it were. However if I were pressed for an answer I?d say that I?m partial to HHH. I think he has one of the coolest intros in the game (I am a big Motorhead fan) and he has a good combination of moves especially the Pedigree finisher.
