Even though PC gamers were enraged to find out that the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 wasn't going to have dedicated servers, Activision is trying to find a solution. Activision and Valve Software have come to an agreement to ship the latest Call of Duty title with the power of Steamworks. Steamworks will allow for auto-updating, anti-cheating, Steam Achievements and the recently introduced Steam Cloud.
"Steamworks will make it possible for us to have a closer connection to our fans, and enable us to support our community much more than ever before," said Robert Bowling, creative strategist, Infinity Ward. "Steam is the hands down leader in offering a community focused experience on PC and the inclusion of Steamworks has allowed us to deliver the most feature-rich PC version to ever come from Infinity Ward, which at the end of the day will mean the most to our fans."
The PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will launch with 50 Steam Achievements. Gamers will be able to access the game from any computer. Also beginning today, Modern Warfare 2 is available for pre-order on Steam as well. Don't forget that Modern Warfare 2 is also releasing on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 November 10th as well and is rated M for "Mature". |

Alien Vs. Predator Highlighting Windows 7 launch
Windows PC |

Highliting the launch of Windows 7 is a pretty big deal. Sega has announced that it will be showcasing a brand new trailer showing the "epic and awesome" features of Windows 7 for both gameplay and graphics of the game. The event is being held in New York City today.
Chris Kingsley, CTO of Rebellion said, “For Aliens Vs. Predator to be an integral part of the Windows 7 worldwide launch is an honour for us. The Aliens Vs. Predator brand is very close to Rebellion’s heart, and when we had the opportunity to revisit the franchise we wanted to push some very big boundaries hence teaming up with AMD and a strong focus on developing the PC version for Windows 7.”
Chris concludes, “We’ve been able to exploit areas never before attempted in 3D graphical terms. For example, the Shader Model 5.0 has provided incredible shadow and depth of field to the game, and also multi-threaded rendering has allowed enormous detail to be built into the characters and environments without incurring any frame rate issues.”
Alien Vs. Predator will be releasing in 2010 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. We'll have the new trailer up on the site for you once it becomes available. |
