Isotx, an independent game developer, has announced that its latest PC game Iron Grip: Warlord will be available for digital download this week. The free demo is currently available and allows gamers to play on the first level and upgrade to the retail version at anytime.
Many of you may have heard of Isotx from their total conversion modes for Generals Zero Hour and Half-Life 2, Iron Grip for HL2 and Mid East Crisis for Generals. The introduction of Iron Grip: Warlord is this company's first foray into the world as being a developer of independent commercial games.
"We have grown up on gaming, it is in our DNA, so the jump from modding to commercial games was the next natural step for us," stated Isotx Lead Game Designer Vincent Van Geel. "We're all very excited, and of course a bit nervous, as we transition into the highly competitive commercial game business. Our plan is to develop a series of games, all situated like Warlord is, in the Iron Grip Universe."
According to the company, Iron Grip: Warlord is a blend of real time strategy and first person shooter gameplay that contains both single-player and multi-player co-op levels. Players assumethe role of an underdog faction as they fight against the imperialistic Confederation forces. To do this, gamers must build defensive structures and fight off the hordes in first person mode.

Mirror's Edge, the highly anticipated first-person adventure release from DICE, hits the retail shelves today for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. With no recent news of a PC version hitting anytime soon, Electronic Arts has confirmed that it will indeed be shipping in early 2009, January to be specific. Also, to spice things up a bit, DICE will also be working on downloadable content for which will also be available early next year.
Mirror's Edge is a unique first-person action adventure where players are introduced to Faith, a 'runner' in a world where communication channels are highly monitored and the movement of information is closely watched. In the game, players step straight into the shoes of this modern day heroine who traverses vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat, fast-paced chases and challenging puzzles. When Faith's sister gets framed for murder, Faith finds herself on the edge of the city, on the wrong side of the law.
"We set out to create a game unlike any other; from the core gameplay controls to the main character and the look of the world, we wanted to give gamers a new experience," said Owen O'Brien, Senior Producer, DICE. "We're eager for players to experience what true first-person movement feels like in a game. Faith is a very human heroine with no super powers or even a weapon that has been put in an extraordinary situation where she must rely on her agility, intelligence and strength to stay alive."
