In what is probably the weirdest announcement so far today, 505 Games will apparently be developing the movie Grease into a video game for the Nintendo Wii and DS.
The Grease video game will allow players to sing and dance alongside Danny, Sandy, The Pink Ladies and the T-Birds. The game will take full advantage of the Nintendo Wii’s motion-sensing controls and microphone, and the DS’s touch screen to create exciting gameplay for casual and family gamers eager to experience Grease in a new medium.
The game is being co-published by 505 Games and Paramount Digital Entertainment. Who seriously came up with this idea? Need further proof? Check out the news report on Gamespot.
In what is unfortunate news, developers at Blue Omega Entertainment have been laid off today. Starting this past Friday, the entire team behind the steampunk title, Damnation, was released due to poor sales and other various reasons.
The announcement was made on the company's Twitter account. While poor sales of Damnation had something to do with it, there have also been years of legal disputes with the developer. These disputes mostly took place between publisher, Codemasters and sub-contractors Velvetelvis Studios and Point of View.
It was said that Codemasters originally took off the Blue Omega team from the game development and allowed Point of View to continue work. Because of this new change, this caused Codemasters to miss deadlines on the game and leading up to charges in up to $75,000. Codemasters is seeking damages in its claim in court.
